Week 2 Blog

Description of Lesson:
Today i was the only person who was present from my group meaning that I had to do a lot more work than what i would usually have to do. My other group members are all in Heavey, Hutchinson and also Crane house who were attending the second day of the year 10 college reflection day but will be back and present for the next days of the week to help me complete the task. Today I began to create my groups info-graphic for the week based on the results of the survey that we undertook at Luna Park on Friday which is due this coming Friday on the 19th August which is made up and designed around the survey that we completed at the Park. I signed into the website that was suggested to the class by Mr Prasad for us to complete the survey which was Piktochart and I logged into the website and create an account and selected one of the free templates and began to make my info graphic. In today's lesson we also were informed of what we will have to do this week in relation to the science assessment task. This week we will be required to complete an info graphic by Friday, we will also have to complete the normal weekly blog that is required to be finished every week and we will also have to complete our original drawing and initial diagram of the roller coaster that we will be creating in future weeks which is the main component of the assessment task. Today was a mostly productive lesson with myself being able to complete my daily blog and first blog of the second week and also I was able to begin to create my info graphic which is coming along nicely and will be good start for when the other members of my group return from the reflection day for the rest of the week . Some of the challenges that I faced today was that I had to do a lot more work than usual today because I was the only person present so my group was not able to complete as much of the work that we could have done and would have wanted to have if we were in our normal group of four.

Description of Lesson:
Today's lesson consisted of continuing with our info graphic due at the end of the week and also our initial design of our roller coaster that we believe and want it to look like when we come to create the model. Harry who is our team leader which we established when we created our group contract. Harry gave out jobs to each of the group members today which enabled us to stay on task and know what we had to complete and what we should be aiming for in the lesson. Harry decided that Allen and I should work on the website survey monkey because Mr Prasad had suggested to us that if we created the survey on survey monkey it was very easy to change the the results into info graphics if we copied and pasted the results into a word document. Myself and Allen our other group member began to copy our results into the survey monkey that we had created and had received from the ten people that completed our survey on the previous Friday about Luna Park and what they had enjoyed at the park and what were some of the things that they chose to eat at the park. Whilst we continued on with the task of creating the survey monkey for our info graphic due in at the end of Fridays lesson Harry had a signed the job of starting to draw the image and possible image and initial diagram of what we would want and imagine our roller coaster will look like when we build our main model of the roller coaster.
Challenges faced overcoming them:
Some of the challenges that we faced in today's lesson was the argument between Harry and I that occurred over the design of what our final model will look like on our initial diagram. Harry wanted and suggested that we created a water ride which i disagreed with because it states that the roller coaster will have to have a marble do a run around the course and I had serious concerns and disagreed that the marble would be able to pass around the roller coaster. However we then both approached Mr Prasad and asked him a few questions such as "Will the marble be able to make it around the course?" and also "does this design have to be the final design and what the model has to look like when we actually build it?". Mr Prasad was able to help us overcome the challenges that we faced by telling us that the design does not have to be the final design of our roller coaster and that it was absolutely fine for us to use the water ride initial idea for the initial drawing of our roller coaster and that we will be able to change our design at any time that we wanted to. This conversation with sir was extremely helpful because we decided and it allowed us to make up our minds that we were going to draw and go with the idea of the water roller coaster initially which you can see below and that we would discuss the next day on Friday and also in our own time at home what would be the best type of model for us to create which would enable us to receive the best marks for the task. Today i believed that every member of the group despite the argument that occurred between myself and Harry worked well and efficiently in today's lesson.

Description of Lesson:
Today was the last day of the week and at the end of the day by 4:00 pm our initial design of the roller coaster and also our info graphic created based of the results that we obtained from the questionnaire on the previous Friday at and about Luna Park. Going into this lesson we were in a good position because our entire group was able to focus on creating the info graphic because we had completed the initial drawing in the previous lesson. Today Mr Prasad was absent and we had Mr Brosheto as a substitute teacher. Harry our group leader set about creating and showing us the jobs that we needed to complete in the lesson. We as a group decided to create the info graphic on the website Piktochart. It was made a lot easier because we created and had the people that we surveyed enter there answers using survey monkey which made it much easier for us to transfer the information into a info graphic because it was extremely easy to read and understand. I had the responsibility of creating the info graphic using the website PiktoChart on our fellow group members laptop Allen. Today our sole focus was the info graphic so it allowed us to put a lot of effort, thought and time into it which was a massive bonus for us because we were able to create a info graphic that would allow and enable us to receive a good mark. We all began to create the survey together. As a group we all put in a good effort and all were good and helpful team members today. We firstly analysed the results and decided upon which four of the questions would be the most effective to put onto our info graphic. The four questions from the survey that we decided to make four different graphs to display our reslts on the info graphic were " How much time do you spend at the park on average?", "What method of transport did you use to get to the park today?', " What is your favourite ride at the park?" and also "What types of food do you usually eat at the park?". As a group we all agreed and decided upon those four questions. We all decided collectively as a group that these four questions would be the most interesting and useful sets of information for us to put onto the info graphic. As seen below this is what our final groups info graphic looks like we used a variety of different charts to display our results such as pie charts and column graphs.
Group Summary:
Today and for this entire week everybody in the group has contributed equally with a few hick ups here and there. Whether it was myself helping with the initial drawing or helping and creating the graphs to be put onto our info graphic or Harry helping with the info graphic and also drawing our intial drawing and putting his thoughts, opinions and questions out onto the table and finally Allen also pulled his weight with ensuring that the survey monkey was ready for when we needed it and also helping like every other member of the team on the info graphic.
