Week 3 Blog
24 August, 2016
Description of Lesson:
Today we were M3.1 and we received our marks back for our second weeks blog, our groups info graphic and finally our groups initial diagram of our roller coaster. This was my first lesson of the week because I sadly had to attend my granddads funeral on the Monday when we had a lesson. Fortunately Harry and also Allen were both in attendance for Mondays lesson and began to create our groups persuasive text for the week and start on there individual blogs for the week. As you can see below is the initial introduction rough copy of our groups which was created by Harry and Allen in the 1st lesson of the week which we were planning to change and adapt later in the week.
Mr Prasad throughout the coarse of the lesson began to hand out our marks. He called everyone in the class up one by one in alphabetical order. There were three marks that every person in our group and the class received which consisted of one individual mark which was the persons second blog, the group result which was the info graphic and finally the initial diagram of the roller coaster which was also a group mark. Firstly Harry went up and received a nine out of twelve for his week two blog and also as a group it was revealed when Harry received his mark that as a group for the second week that we received a nine out of twelve for our info graphic and also a five out of seven for our info graphic. I personally received a ten out of twelve for my second weeks blog which I was pleased with because it was a big improvement from my first weeks seven out of twelve which I was not impressed with so I was pleasantly surprised with a three mark increase from last weeks blog. All up for week two including all three factors that we were marked on i received a grand total of 24 out of a possible 31 marks. This number still needs to be improved upon in my opinion because i would like that to be at around a 27 in the coming weeks.
For the remainder of the lesson myself and Allen began on our blogs for the week. For myself it only included today's blog because of myself being absent on our first lesson on Monday. However Allen had to write and enter two blogs, one for Monday's lesson and also an entry for today's lesson. Harry he team leader had decided to assign himself the role in this weeks persuasive text that he would write the introduction (as you can see above) and also the conclusion for this weeks group task of the persuasive text. Harry as the team leader decided that for the remainder of the lesson he would start to write the conclusion for our text and also if he had enough time begin to edit the introduction because of one of the key factors that Mr Prasad insisted that the introduction will be the most important part of the text because it will be used to draw people in and engage the audience so the group leader Harry instinctively saw that as an opportunity to put in some extra work to gain some extra marks for this week for our group.
Challenges faced and overcoming them:
Today we faced a challenge that we had not yet faced or had to overcome during the assessment so far. It was a collective challenge not only for our group or class but the entire year. This challenge was the continuing maintenance that was being done on the schools Seqta website. The problem was that that none of us were able to load seqta and on the odd occasion after many attempts that we were none of us were able to log in. This was a big challenge for our group because it was crucial for receiving the best marks possible for that week for the only group task which is the persuasive text that we are able to send all members of the group certain parts of the text so that ether Harry was able to piece the text all together of for myself or Allen to send each other parts of the text so we were able to ensure that we were not both writing the same thing and that what we were writing made sense. This was an extremely annoying challenge for not just myself and my group but for everybody in the year. However we were able to come up with a solution and were able to overcome the challenge by using our phones. We decided even though it was extremely inconvenient and a method that took up a lot more time than the normal seqta method that sadly we were unable to use today was to take photos of the work that our other group members had done and then either read the text off our phones or to transfer the image onto our individual laptops. The image once transferred onto the computer could sadly not be edited and adapted because it did not support the correct format such as Microsoft Word on our laptops but we were able to offer some form of feedback that was able to aid our fellow group members in some way. As a group this was a significant challenging setback especially because of the current week where we needed to share information and aid our fellow groups more often than in the past weeks because of the group task of the text that we all had to have some input in. I believe that we did overcome the challenge in the best way that we could in the absence of the school website seqta.
Group contribution:
I believe that in today's jam packed lesson which consisted of many challenges that we had to overcome, marks that we received that some of the group members were not to pleased with and the work that had been completed I would mark the lesson as successful. Today we worked as a group to overcome the very frustrating challenge of seqta which disabled our ability to collaborate and share as a group which was overcome with our group leader Harry's quick thinking and unorthodox method of solving the seqta problem. Myself and Allen contributed to helping the solve the problem but were mostly focused on our own blogs today which is contributing to our own assessments but not the teams task in general but some lesson do work out that way such as how today's lesson did flow. Harry was great today and made many helpful contributions and steps towards the weekly tasks that have to be performed which as the team leader he guides and leads us to doing so. Overall I believe that in today's lesson every group member contributed some more than overs but all put their heads down and worked towards helping the group as a whole today.

Description of Lesson:
Today we entered the lesson in a good position because our group leader Harry had finished and had edited the introduction and the conclusion for our persuasive text due at the end of the week. So today Harry decided to work on his blog for the previous day and myself and Allen began to work on the two body paragraphs that were required for the groups text. Firstly myself and Allen had a conversation which Harry had some input on for what each of us should focus on in our paragraphs. We also called Mr Prasad over to help and provide some knowledge and advice other what each of us should be focusing on. Mr Prasad emphasised the point that one of us which ended up being myself was to write and explain why our group had chosen the style of our roller coaster and to explain what our roller coaster model would be made off and to also describe and explain the certain safety features that will have to be placed into our roller coaster to ensure that it is safe and to finally give an estimate of the amount that will roughly cost Luna Park to implement and to construct our ride. Mr Prasad then suggested that Allen wrote about why our roller coaster design should be picked over all of the other designs. Allen also aimed at explaining why it would be so critical for Luna park to create the water ride mainly because of its sensational geographical location right on Sydney Harbour. Below is a guide and scaffold that Mr Prasad showed the class which is located on the school seqta portals area. We based our ideas for the roller coaster off the scaffold and was extremely helpful for us to structure our persuasive text. Mr Prasad had also decided to acknowledge the extremely annoying challenge and problem for the week and he allowed and informed the class that our persuasive text would not have to be handed in by Friday afternoon at 4:00PM but we were informed that because of the school website seqta being down for most off the week which disabled our ability to collaborate and share ideas as a group effectively. Mr Prasad revealed to the class that our weekly task the persuasive text would not be due until Sunday at midnight when the weekly Blog part of the assessment. This was a fair call as our ability to gain the best marks possible and group collaboration was severely hampered throughout the week. The new date for the persuasive text being due enabled our group to continue to edit and work on our persuasive text and was a great opportunity for our group to receive the best possible marks.
Persuasive text final copy:
Group contribution:
Harry:
Harry had a very large contribution to the group this week. As the group leader he decided to take on the role of typing the introduction and conclusion for our groups persuasive text. Harry was also in charge of going through myself and Allen's body paragraphs when we were finished and sent them to Harry. Then Harry pieced the persuasive text and with the help of myself placed the paragraphs in a logical order so the text was easy to read and to allow us to gain the best marks possible for this weeks task. Overall this week Harry did shed the majority of the workload and was a great group leader because of his ability to ensure that everyone was always on task and boost our groups marks in all possible areas.
Allen:
This week was a big one for Allen majorly because of the language barrier that is in place. This was a slight challenge for Allen this week and also our group in general because this weeks tasks and workload focused heavily on English language with the weekly Blog and also the persuasive text that Allen was incredible able to come up and write a an extremely well structured and a intricate paragraph which was very easy to read and had a very good flow which was a significant achievement for Allen personally. Allen was not required to as much work as in previous weeks but was always on task and was willing and able to help or do any work that was required of him which was handed out by the group leader Harry.
Myself:
This week I was able to help and work well for the team whenever Harry asked me to do a certain task. This week i completed my weekly Blog as required for the personal marks but was also able to put forward a well structured and convincing paragraph for the groups persuasive text. Overall I was personally not required to complete as much work as in previous weeks because of the small overall requirements for this week.
